Hello;
I need some help please. I am having to change over to a different ISP. I have been with Qwest MSN
Premium for about 7 yrs now. I keep having problems ( old wiring underground? ) & they just keep patching stuff & cutting my speed back but not cutting my bill back any. I have had enough. I changed over this morning to Time Warner Cable w/roadrunner..
Much faster!!!
My problem is I have a lot of emails in my mailbox.I do not want to lose any emails IF this is at all possible. My email on Qwest has been Qwest Windows Live Hotmail.
IS there ANY EASY way to save all of this email to my external hard drive?
My computer is an HP Pavilion P6210f. It has an Athalon 2 processor & 6 GB of memory so it is pretty good. I have searched the internet & tried everything I can find but it just freezes up after about 1/2 hour of trying. I have split some off into folders & still no luck saving.
Does anyone have any suggestions as I want to end my subscription with Qwest but do NOT want to lose all of my emails..I was able to transfer all my email contact info to my new roadrunner account but the emails files are too large. I need to save them to my hard drive. ANY help would surely be much appreciated. Thanks for reading... Ron _________________ "Tone is in the hands. Unless your wife will let you buy a new amp. Ron,
I guess I don't understand your problem. Windows Live Hotmail is a web-based service and all the email in your inbox should be accessible from any computer connected to any ISP once you log into your Windows Live (Hotmail) account. _________________ C#

If you have a Hotmail e-mail account, for example name@hotmail.com that is a "web based" e-mail and when you move ISP's it will have NO affect on your e-mail. You will still be able to access and use it no matter who the ISP is.
Is this what you have? |

Sorry for the confusion - my fault..
When I log in I have to go name@msn.com .
That takes me to Windows Live Hotmail?
So it does not go straight to a hot mail account then I guess.
Thanks .. Ron _________________ "Tone is in the hands. Unless your wife will let you buy a new amp. Then it's definitely in that amp."

Are you using a web browser to access your email? If not, are you using the Windows Live Mail desktop email client?
I would try to access my MSN email as soon as your new ISP connection goes live. See if they provide a method of migrating it to Hotmail, which is also owned by Microsoft. There may be a place to ask a question concerning the disposition of your MSN account, after you officially leave Quest.
Have you contacted Quest about this? _________________ "Wiz" Feinberg, Moderator SGF Computers Forum

Hello Wiz, Jack & Cal;
I will try and answer your questions.
I have already switched over to Time Warner Cable that offers roadrunner for my online services.
I am so far still subscribed to Qwest MSN also as I
do not want to lose my emails - that is why I want to know how to save them to my hard drive then I will get rid of the Qwest service.
I access these services thru IE 8.
I have not yet contacted Qwest. I was trying to take care of the email issue 1st then contact them to quit their services.
ANY help anyone can provide will be GREATLY appreciated
on how to do what I need/want to do.
Thanks .. Ron _________________ "Tone is in the hands. Unless your wife will let you buy a new amp. Then it's definitely in that amp."

To reassure yourself, you could use a friend's computer or a public computer, like at the library, and log onto your account at name.msn.com and make sure your email is there. Then you'll know you don't need Qwest. _________________ C#

I have Roadrunner and I have a "POP" roadrunner mail account "assignedusername@tampabay.rr.com"
But, I also have a hotmail account "name@hotmail.com" The hotmail account is totally ISP independent - doesn't matter what ISP is used to access that account.
SEE THIS about moving e-mails, address book, etc over to a Windows Live Mail (the current Microsoft e-mail program). |

Hello Wiz, Cal & Jack,
Thanks to all of you for your help so far.
I am learning as I go & reading a lot too.
My email when it opens up ( going in thru IE8 ) says windows live hotmail BUT my email address ( in my MSN account ) is still name@msn.com.
It does not end in a hotmail name like you would think it should? Why, I do not know? I think that may
be confusing us - maybe.
Jack, I just skimmed over the article in the link you sent but I did see mention of msn email so I will print that out & read thru it.
Thanks Again & if you can think of anything else that may help, let me know.
Thanks .. Ron _________________ "Tone is in the hands. Unless your wife will let you buy a new amp. Then it's definitely in that amp."

It is confusing. I have an email account with them, too. I go to msn.com and click on Hotmail and my address is name@live.com. It started out as Hotmail years ago and then it morphed into "live" at some point, but it's all part of msn.com. _________________ C#

Yes it is Cal..!!
When I go to msn & click on hotmail ( just like you do Cal ) mine then goes into Live Mail then from there I have to click on hotmail inbox to bring my email up..I just can't figure out why my email address does not end in hotmail if that is what I am using. It must be a string off of msn then off of windows live mail??? very confusing.
Thanks for getting back to me on this..
Maybe between all of us we can figure out how to save/move all of my email? I sure hope so..Ron _________________ "Tone is in the hands. Unless your wife will let you buy a new amp. Then it's definitely in that amp."

Morning Gentlemen;
I am on my way out the door headed to work.
Wiz, that link looks like exactly what I am looking for!..I will do some more reading today but just skimming over it real quick this morning that should do the trick for me once I open another email account. Then I should be able to save everything.'
THANK YOU all very much for the trouble you went to
to help me out. I really appreciate that. I will let you know how everything goes - may be this weekend before I can get to this as it will take some time
to do it.
Thanks Again..Ron _________________ "Tone is in the hands. Unless your wife will let you buy a new amp. Then it's definitely in that amp."
