Jim, would you pm me the email address please? I have received several emails from obviously a musician, offering meds for sale. Just wondering if it's the same one. _________________ BenRom Pedal Steel Guitars

Jim,
I recieved an e-mail from my niece last week, that, stated the same thing. I got in touch with her via her cell phone and she told me that someone had hacked into her aol account and was flooding all her contacts with the same info. She cancelled her account. |

This happens all the time. They haven't "hacked" into your e-mail account. It's coming from someone's PC that has your e-mail address in their address book. That person's PC has been infected and it just randomly selects an e-mail address from that person's e-mail address book and sends the garbage using that e-mail as the originator. |

Jack, if they do it this way, wouldn't they have to find out the password belonging to that email address?
Even if I have someone's email address in my address book, I cannot use this address to send emails. Maybe there's something I don't see here... _________________ BenRom Pedal Steel Guitars

I just got an email from a 'serving soldier' in Iraq who wants me to help him get a load of cash out of the country. He must be a really clever guy - he managed to get an email address in China to hide what he is up to. _________________ Only nuts eat squirrels.

These are Nigerian 419 scams. I have been fighting Nigerian scammers off for several years now; keeping them off this forum via my Nigerian Blocklist. Before that they were sending scam letters to members trying to sell stuff on the SGF. Now, they mostly can't even view the posts on the forum, much less respond to them. _________________ "Wiz" Feinberg, Moderator SGF Computers Forum
