Looks like a Dekley to me.

A Hilt - it was a D-12 I believe. A very unique axe, which unfortunately was stolen probably not all that long after that video was done. A lot of the same parts as were used in Dekleys, hence the strong resemblance.

I stand corrected-the FB looks Dekleyish, and I went from there.

I just saw NRPS play a few months ago. He was playing a very worn in Emmons LeGrande II. Sounded great.

That guitar was built for Buddy Cage by Larry Hilt. I say was because, unfortunately, it was stolen from Buddy, I believe, in 2002. Mr. Hilt was affiliated with Dekley Guitars. Anyway, it was a double twelve-string E9/C6 guitar with 10 pedals and 14 knee levers.

As Bob Blair said, that guitar was a Hilt and built for Buddy Cage by Larry Hilt. Mr. Hilt was affiliated with Dekley Guitars. It was a double twelve-string E9/C6 guitar with 10 pedals and 14 knee levers.

I thought Buddy played a double 12 push-pul emmons in the 70's for the NRPS stuff or was that a Dekley?
- anybody.
His tone on the Panama Red album just blew me away.
You gotta wonder why such a rare PSG wouldn't surface eventually. There can't be that many D12's made by any manufacturer.

On the early NRPS stuff it was the Emmons p/p. The Hilt came later (the p/p got stolen - Buddy has had a bit of bad luck that way).

Reviving this old post because there was discussion about this particular steel being stolen from Buddy Cage. Maybe it was later recovered since the seller says it was built for his father???

You can always tell that you are dealing with a knowledgeable seller when they mount the pedalboard on the rear legs for the photos.

The pedalboard is not mounted. It is sitting on the floor.

If it WASN'T recovered, someone who knows Buddy ought to tell him about it showing up on eBay.
You'd think if the seller WAS Buddy's son, there would have been mention of NRPS and a mention or two of Buddy. Just sayin'.

This is what I want to know. Seller is in Brooklyn. Buddy lived (still lives?) in NYC. Guitar was stolen in NYC. Anything is plausible, from this sale being legit to this guitar still being hot.

Strategically, there are three options when potentially stolen goods are identified: contact the seller, contact the past owner, or post public threads.

Surely we are more resourceful than this approach, and I don't think contacting the seller could possibly be helpful.

Well, perhaps someone who sees this does know how to reach Buddy. I know I don't. Quite frankly, I think this IS semi-resourceful, as someone on here surely knows Buddy.

I sent him a Text (assuming I still have the right number).

And I passed it on to someone who is in frequent contact with him.

Buddy knows about it and the police are on it.
it's a small time fence. The police are asking that NO ONE CONTACT THIS GUY. We don't want him to submerge again.

I had just sent a link to this ebay auction to Buddy, before I checked in here and saw it. It's still up on ebay, so maybe good things will result. I know Buddy was devastated by the theft.

Those who know Buddy know that his initial thought was to go get a couple of biker heavies and pay this guy a visit. At last that's what the old Buddy would have done. But he's mellowed somewhat and is letting the police handle, he has friend who is a retired detective who is watching things, and hopefully following the rules will lead to a positive ending.

Following the rules not always a Cage strong point though.
