To celebrate 40th anniversary of the releases of Workingman's Dead and American Beauty I'm doing a note for note performance of the 2 records this Saturday 10/30/10 at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank NJ. I'm playing steel on Workingman's and Buddy Cage is coming in for American Beauty. This show features everything you hear on these records, note for note, from bass, Grissman's mandolin to the highly (un)arranged vocals. It's been a 6 month process ending this Saturday (mischief night). Some tickets are still available. Come if you can. Thanks.

The show went amazing. I just fixed up my old silver face Fender super six reverb chasis that sat in a shed for 15 years. Found an old twin cab with speakers to put it in. I played steel through it and it sounded killer. Better than any of my Peavey steel amps, at least for the Jerry tone. (Also played guitar through it)

1200 people dancing in the isles. We did it absolutely note for note, every instrument from the Grissman mandolin in Friend Of The Devil to every double drumming tom hit on Easy Wind. I think it took many by surprise at how accurate we got.

Show is called "Live Dead, 40th ann. of Workingman's Dead and American Beauty" and will be traveling around the country soon. Come see.

Buddy did the American Beauty half and encores and, although I couldn't ask or expect him to learn Jerry parts, sounded like classic Buddy Cage. No, I'll be doing steel for whole show on the road. Was great to have him on the opening show though. We did an acoustic, steel version of "Last Lonely Eagle" with pics of Dawson behind us that had people's eyes tearing (in a good way).
