Great tone, but I notice it's distorting.
Not terribly, but very obvious to me.
More distorted, when I dig in (of course), but it seems like it's just too much. I can't seem to get a real clean sound, & it does seem to be getting worse.
(Or am I just trippin'?)
Could it just be the pickup, or...?
I've never encountered a pickup getting "more distorted" on a regular guitar, & since I'm a newbie I don't have experience with pedal steel "issues".
It has a George L's E66 p/u.
I've tried:
Bypassing my vp.
various cables.
Lowering pickup.
Various amps & various settings, etc., etc...
Is it just the pickup's "nature"?
It seems to have gotten worse, but I'm not sure if it's just me noticing it more & more.
Can a pickup develop this type of issue?
Could it be something else?
Any ideas?

| Ron...Check the wires from the pickup to the input jack, a loose wire or cold solder joint may cause the problem you described. |

I was going to suggest bad contacts on the neck selector swich, but I notice it's an S-10, but the contacts on the bypass switch are a remote possibility. Sounds like a connection somewhere breaking down.

I had this happen to me on an old Sho~Bud. My problem was the input jack on the guitar was a little corroded. I dabbed a cotton swab with alcohol and cleaned it off and it works just fine now. I don't know if that's your problem, but like David stated above, check the joints to see if a wire is loose. Some of the smallest problems turns into the biggest nuisance hehe. Hope you find the problem!!
