I received my copy of Mike Perlowin's new album WEST SIDE STORY a few days back. And Mike, I must say you outdid yourself on this one! This album ,just like the last one--FIREBIRD SUITE, goes to show that there is just no limit to what can be done on the Steel Guitar. I put your name right along beside people like Mike Smith, Bobby Black, Buddy Emmons,Paul Franklin ,Speedy West,Bud Issacs---and many, many more that I could mention---all inovators of new and different ways and things to do with our beloved ole STEEL GUITAR!!!!!! Keep up the good (and new) work Mike...

Gosh Stoney, That's just about the nicest thing anybody has ever said about me. I don't know what to say except Thank You.

Actually, I do want to say that like my first CD, the strength on this one is the material itself, and not my playing. There is a TON of wonderful music out there, in all sorts of genres besides country, that is perfectly suited for the steel guitar. My special talent, if you can call it that, is finding it.

Many of these songs, although not even remotely related to country, are so perfectly suited to the steel it's almost as if they were written with the instrument in mind. I fully expect that in a few years they will find their way into the repertoires of other players.

At any rate, thank you for your kind words.
