Let's say you're playing one note each on strings 10 - 9 - 8 - 7 - 6 - 5, using T - i - m, at a reasonably fast tempo (like the OBAIL lick). How do you pick-block the 8th string? I can't put m back on the 8th string without it getting in the way of my thumb going to pick the 7th. If you are going the other direction (high to low) you could use your ring finger to block the last string before the crossover but going low to high, that strategy doesn't work unless you have an extra thumb. Right now, I either drop the base of my thumb a bit to block the 8th string as I'm picking the 7th or palm block it. Any suggestions?

I use the side of the pick or the finger itself to block lower strings when going upwards with the thumbpick. Cheating, I guess, but it happens "automagically" when necessary - and it works.

Thanks, Georg, guess I'll work on the automagic.
