Hi guys, I have a Walker Stereo Steel amp that Gary just repaired,
and he told me I should get a TC Electronics M One-XL processor
to get the best sounds out of it. So I just ordered one, but see
that it has XLR connectors on it, so will connect different than my
TransTubeFex does. Hope maybe someone can tell me how to
to connect the 2 units together when I get it, hopefully on Friday.
Many thanks for any help or advice you can give me.

Hi, Carl, you can buy short XLR to 1/4" cords at Guitar center or similar, or make your own- it should state in the M One manual just how the pins are wired so you can wire hot to tip and ground and negative to sleeve on the 1/4" end. No big deal if you can solder.
I use a standard M One with my Walker rig, and it's a great match. |

Thanks Mark, I'll have to see if I can find my XLR plugs. I have a
few spare cables I made with a TRS on one end, I'll just use them.
If I need any help figuring out what goes where, I'll holler at ya'.

Carl,
I just got a Walker rig with the TC processor and love that set-up. So much so that I sold the TTF I had been using. Gerry made and provided the patch cords to run between the M1 and the amp. If you're doing it yourself, I'd suggest just calling him and asking about the pin orientation. _________________ Regards, Mike "Web" Sparks

Hi Michael, I can make the cables ok. I'll just need to know where
to plug them into each unit. I downloaded the TC/M-One-XL manual
and it says not to plug the guitar into it (they say it can overload it)
It says you should use a preamp. I wonder how you have yours hooked up.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Carl,
With respect to your pre-amp comment, you may want to ask Gerry about how your amp is set up internally. I have what he calls a "combo", which if I understand correctly, has the amp and pre-amp in one chassis.
Wiring-wise, I recall that the L&R Sends from the amp went to the L&R Balanced Inputs at the left rear of the M1, with the corresponding Balanced L&R Outputs going to the amp Returns. To confirm though, I'll take a look and tell you (and also post a pic) when I get home in a couple of hours. _________________ Regards, Mike "Web" Sparks

Carl,
May be hard to distinguish, but the black and red jacks on the right outboard side of the amp (lower right of pic) are the L&R Sends to the Inputs of the M1, or left outboard side (upper left of the pic).
Leaving the left inboard of the M1 going to the right inboard of the amp. Hope this helps. _________________ Regards, Mike "Web" Sparks
