I'm helping a friend with an early Pro-1 Sho-Bud try and find a humbucker that will fit. Do the George L's pickups fit? Any other suggestions?

Brad...The Sho-Bud will require a narrow mount pickup. These are available from George L, but for a humbucking pickup I would recommend a Lawrence 710. I don't believe these are made any longer, but do come up for sale occasionally. |

So all those George L's are narrow enough? I've used George L's in my Emmons guitars off and on for years. Didn't know if they would fit a 'Bud.

Bill Lawrence 710's carry the shobud tone far superior for a humbucker. Lloyd Green made his signature sound with a 710. Good enough for Lloyd, good enough for me. YMMV _________________ "Good judgement comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgement"~old cowboy proverb.

Brad, the George-L pickups come with tabs on the sides and the ends. You just break off the ones you don't need. They will fit the Sho-Bud. I tried a George-L 10-1, a Lawrence 710, and a Tonealigner on my Pro-1. I kept the Tonealigner. It sounded much better to me in this guitar. And you can adjust the volume of each string individually. |

Brad...Sorry, I should have been more specific. The George L's, as well as other makes, are available in two widths. Most guitars use the standard width, a few other brands, (pre G2 Mullen, Show Pro, Sho-Bud) have a more narrow pickup opening and require the "narrow mount" configuration. |
