I don't know why Peavey would make the amp with this cut-out but they should correct it pronto as it's a serious design flaw IMHO!
It is cut out so that us old fogies can see the knobs!
Also, the cabinet happens to fit most of their other amps with 12 inch speakers.
Peavey is trying to keep production costs down. We cannot expect them to run a "special" cabinet for our steel amp. They do not sell nearly as many Nash 112s as the other guitar amps.
We're lucky they still bother to produce the 112, as it has very little sales compared to their other stuff.
Yeah, I say just buy or make a knob protector and be happy.
Or better yet,
be careful when loading and unloading your amp!
Thanks to Mike and the guys at Peavey for continuing to produce the 112.
I would hate to see the 112 go the way of the Nash 1000!
