is there some kind of stomp box/ effect that will simulate a keyboard , other than the leslie/ rotorary sims? just curious ..thx

You are right boys, I stand corrected the electro harmonix pog would simulate an organ sound not piano

There is the Sonuus MIDI converter but it is strictly monophonic so you can only get one key at a time.
I'm assuming that the old "Steel Rider" could be programmed for a keyboard sound but they are practically non-existant anymore.
The unit that Pat posted gives you more of an organ sound. |

You can get a honkytonk piano sound by playing above the 24th fret.

Check out 'What A Day" from Poco's first album, Pickin' Up the Pieces--Rusty plays a simple but very convincing piano part on steel.
I've used this approach:
Use a dead/no sustain wooden bar (think broomstick),
play up high above the 12th fret,
and think fast triplet chords: plinkety-plinkety-plinkety...
add a half step pedal pull like a Floyd Cramer twinkly grace note. |
