Beware of scam!

A recent Craigs List posting offered a "vintage Sho Bud Pro III Custom" for sale in San Jose for only $800. An accompanying photo showed it to be well worth the very low asking price. I and two other friends sent separate inquiries. None of us (one of whom lives very near San Jose) mentioned his location to the seller, and all three inquiries differed. Yet all three got identical responses -- none of which answered our separate inquiries, and all of which said the steel would be shipped for free by "Freight Co Deliveries" after payment is received. Responses to my follow-up inquiries said payment had to be made to Freight Co via Western Union (thus evading traceability and postal fraud liability) to an address in London (thus making legal recourse quite impossible).

Beware! It is clearly a scam! For related information check out this site:

And if that weren't enough, here's another Sho Bud ad in the Bay Area that is definitely BOGUS:

But is the Los gatos Sho Bud legit?

David,
That certainly isn't it. The one you show is for a Shobud Maverick. And that guitar isn't even worth the $840.00 he has it listed for. It's more of a $400.00 guitar.

I believe the scam add may have showed up on Craigs list in Brooklyn New York now. It shows the top of a Shobud Pro 111. Is this the guitar Mickey?

" payment had to be made to Freight Co via Western Union (thus evading traceability and postal fraud liability) to an address in London (thus making legal recourse quite impossible)."

I find it hard to believe that anyone smart enough to turn on a computer would fall for something like this.

Hopefuly the one listed in Los Gatos is legit, as I am only 5 miles away. Anyone know the value of this Sho Bud?

David G,
It's a later Maverick. Not worth $840, IMO.

OK, thanks for this info, as I am a beginner looking for a PSG and very much vulnerable to scammers and inflated pricing!

Hate to see that kind of stuff happening with PSG's.

if everybody would flag that ad it would go away. Look over to the right of the page and click one.
