Just came into possession of an old 6 string Supro lap. I am first and foremost a standard player. About 52 years. I have some experience with Dobro using a G tuning and of course E9 & C6th pedal.

What is my preferred tuning for this little lap steel? My preference is traditional country. Along with tuning recommendation please spec the string gauges.

Thank you,

Jim

Hey Jim...I would go with the c6 tuning. You can get the strings right here on the forum. Also, I would like to ask you how the volume output compares with your other guitars? A.J

I have to tell you that I was very surprised how good the output and tone of the stock pickup is in this rig. It has to be over 50 yrs old. The Supro is in pretty good shape. Has some scratches on the stenciled finger board that appear to be from picks. Other than that she is pretty nice (once I cleaned her up)

Thanks for the tuning advice.

Jim
