Hey all you steelers, I am trying to help the folks at the New Broadway Rose theater here in Portland line up a steel player to play in a honky-tonk band for a musical theater gig in a hurry. It's a cool show and a fun gig, but the rehearsals have already started and the play opens next week on the 23rd! There are 5 shows/week Thurs-Sun through mid-October, they pay $75 each as do rehearsals. If someone from nearby wanted to come in to town to do it, I'm sure we could help find them accomodations. I was going to do the first part of the run & had Larry Behm lined up to take over for the last week but schedules changed and conflicts ensued. . . then they thought they would get by without steel but now that they have started rehearsals they realize they need it. Larry is not available until October, and I'm out of town the first week of the show, so what they really need for sure is someone to do the first half of the show. If they are available for the whole run or want to split it with Larry, great. If not, I may be able to fill in during the middle.
Here is a link to their website with some information and the show schedule: http://www.bwayrose.com/currentproductions.asp - there is a book of about 2 dozen musical numbers, some written out parts but mostly chord charts and we all know most of the songs anyway. If you might be interested, or if you have other leads please let me know and I will put you in touch with the music director. Thanks!!
