Elsewhere on this page, is a thread by my good, good friend from the UK....Basil.

He has a LINK to another of HIS recordings......
"BLUE VELVET". WHAT a pure joy it was to hear is arrangement. Always a favorite tune for me and he did a splendid job of representing the steel guitar to hopefully, a much wider base of listeners.

I'd link it here but but don't have the 'puter' expertise to do so. SORRRY 'bout that. It's on YOU TUBE and you can google to get there or simply go down the posts on this page and you can find the direct link to it.

GREAT JOB! Let's hear more.

Mr. Montee,

Check the link below to see whether it is the one to which you referred. I really enjoyed it. There are two other versions as well.

RIGHT ON!
That's the one Jim......

So great to hear steel guitar being played in such a smooth, flowing style.....

Making beautiful music without the vision of the player sitting behind his rig with a great big Sombrerro on top o'his head and wildly painted COWBOY boots on his feet.

Thanks for helping me give a heads up to our fellow Forumites from our friend across the sea.

Thanks my friends, here are links to The Audio
and the VIDEO.

As you can see it was only a "Practise session", and NOT a serious commercial recording 'though I may include a re-recorded version on my next album..

It's actual a recording of me practising the tune for a show I was doing. I found that the ACTUAL melody as sung by Bobby Vinton is rarely played correctly so I ATTEMPTED to follow the nuances of his vocalisation.

Being such a well known version, it would be presumptuous of me to think I could improve on the definitive one, so I just followed his lead and "KISS". (Kept It Simple Steel)

Simple Steel played by a simple steel player, a most humble person with a lot to be humble about ...

Well Ray, I thank you sir for the "Heads Up" regarding my music, but the Aloha Shirt or Evening Suit music I play is only one or two aspects of what I do. I CAN adopt the persona you allude to above..

I even dared to try my hand a writing a steel guitar instrumental, it was used by RTE (the Irish National TV Station} as a signature tune for a TV Series..Country Startime

Those tunes were on my 1970 Emmons D-10, BUT I also play my own brand of Western Swing on a Fender Stringmaster Here
White socks, Blue Ribbon Beer and 'shit kickin' music.
At a very 'Posh" venue, the Birmingham Symphony Hall..

I'd love to be able to play the single note runs that so many of the greats do, but alas I'm limited to just my own brand of chordal extemporisation.

BTW "Shit Kickin Music" was meant to be 'Sh*t Kickin' but the profanity checker blew me out of the water.. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Your rendition fits in pretty well with the original Tony Bennett version, too, and even better with the Nat King Cole version. Cool

VERY Nice, Basil! A great melody, and very tasty playing. That Emmons push/pull rings like a bell! Cool
