Faron used to get slightly annoyed, or just amused, when some girl singer in an opening act would do "Sweet Dreams" and call it a Patsy Cline song. It was a hit for Patsy and Don Gibson and Emmyhair Louis, but Faron had it first. So, it's a Faron Young song, damnit.

When did Lloyd play steel for Faron?

Lloyd Green joined Faron's band 12/26/56, his first day in Nashville, and stayed there to mid 1958. As far as recording with Faron, I remember LDG was on the recut of "Goin' Steady" (10/10/70) and, for sure, a good run of Faron records before and after that date. To hear what Lloyd sounded like when he first hit Nashville, check out George Jones' "Too Much Water" (Mercury 71096 - 6/10/57) - it might be on iTunes.

Robert:

Thanks for the information.

I recall seeing a 'Country Style USA' hosted by Charlie Applewhite which featured Faron and Lloyd was the steel player. I guess that was around '57-58.

I believe that Lloyd played on Faron's recordings of 'Country Girl' and 'Four in the Morning'.
