Hope you guys have a great NESGA Show this year like we had the first year.Anna and I will be busy with the Steel Guitar Jam we are having down here in Clayton North Carolina.Maybe we will be able to make it next year depending on how our health is and gas prices.I have to try to drive a little slower so I don't get another speeding ticket sent in the mail like I just got from a trip to Tennessee.OH well that is what happens when you step on the gas to get threw a caution light and the camera gets you for speeding Darn.I know I do have a heavy foot and I knew that camera was there.Next time I stop right in the middle of the intersection.

Vinnie, scheduling your N.E. Steel Guitar meeting in RI on the same day that the RI group is having its own annual meeting is obviously a bad conflict that can only hurt one or the other or both groups and possibly lead to some bad feelings. While there's still time, I'd strongly suggest one of you re-schedule.

Bill not to stick my nose in but that will not hurt either RISGA or the NESGA. RISGA has their Steel Show in Fall River MA.and NESGA has theirs in Rhode Island where all the people at Post 15 will not go to MA.. It is altogether two diffrent crowds that go to each of them. I do under stand that Some players of each like to go to both Steel Shows. I do know that NESGA can not change their date as they are booked with Post 15 one year in advance and they book for their Jamborees for the whole year.I tryed to avoid this happening when I ran NESGA.There are four organizations that use post 15 in East Greenwich R.I.every year and the CMA of R.I. has first choice of the hall Walter Hall has second choice NESGA has third choice and R.I. Country Horrizon has last choice. Now the problem of one of them changing is that they have every thing booked and all players are confirmed. This is what you have to be careful of not to book when there are other Steel shows close by. I always checked with PSGA in Conn. and RISGA when I started NESGA to make sure this did not happen.I know NESGA has to keep their date as there is not an other date they can use for the hall and that is their date for the hall in September. When I ran both organizations I always had the last Sunday of the month for RISGA and the third Sunday of the month for NESGA.Now that is up to them to try to straiten this problem out.I'm not involved in either so I have nothing to say. I do hope they both have a great Steel Show and it does not hurt either organization.I know NESGA has Steel Players coming in from VA,PA,NJ and north west of Albany N.Y.
I hope this will help everyone and they can have great Steel Shows.

Hi Vincent,
I emailed a recording I did recently,to Ken Law. His reply? ?????????????you're not serious! Last night,Bob from Ken's band left me a message saying, the kind of music I play would not be appreciated by the audience at the steel show. Why would I even want to meet, let alone play music with these people?

Bob apologized. Thank you Vincent,Pat, and Steve.

Hey Mike don't listen to any one in a band except the band leader. Ken has a great country band and they have to play what the Steel player wants not what they want. They have a Steel player in their band and he is also a member of NESGA. It is a Steel Guitar show not a band show. You go and have a great time as the people at NESGA will appreciate your playing.Drop me a E-Mail.

Hi Sam,
I hope you are enjoying your retirement. You,Vincent,Pat,and Steve are such nice people. You know, I lived in MA for several years, and I'll always regret having moved back to NJ. I love New England. As far as the show goes, I guess my status is pending. Either way, I'm pickin' an'a grinnin'.

I'm sadden that Mike Phiffer is not going to make the NESGA show because of a a band member saying what he said to Mike in a E-Mail. I have a copy of what was said and I think if a band is hired to play a Steel Show they do not have the right to tell the Steel player what he can play and what he can't.It is a Steel Guitar Show not a band show.I know who the person is that started the miss under standing and he told me when I bought my first new Fessenden Steel Guitar that it was junk and he had one and threw it on the side of I-95. I had no use for him then and I still do not have any use for him.Mike is a great steel player and they are going to miss a great Steel player this year. I could not believe the sound that mike has playing strait from the amp with no afects plugged in.Mike I apologize for the Steel Player in Ken Laws Band as he has no class what so ever.
The founder of RISGA, NESGA, Greeneville TN. Steel Guitar original Steel Guitar Jam and now the Steel Guitar Jam in Clayton N.C..I keep pushing the Steel Guitar the most beautiful Instrument in the world.
