Possibly, you may have to disable real time protection in your AV Software for it to install.
Google KB2286198 and read.

Another possibility is that your PC is already infected and the malware is preventing the patch from installing.

Have all previous patches installed properly?

All is well Very Happy

When I turned the computer on this morning, automatic updates installed the fix with no problem, yet for the past few days it has been repeatedly trying and failing.

Go figure....
