My new pc has win7. Should I download ZA or is the pc firewall adequate?

It's more than adequate.

I don't hear much about Zone Alarm these days and wonder if it has some specific shortcomings? Ten years ago, it was all the rage.

Supplement the Windows 7 firewall with the anti-virus and anti-malware applications of your choice.

I use Microsoft Security Essentials, Malwarebytes, and occasionally Super Anti Spyware. All free of charge.

The only "real time" thing I use is Microsoft Security Essentials.

No issues yet, after 9 months of using Windows 7.
