Capo Questions...

Howdy folks,
Back in January I put a nut riser on my Fender flattop and have been playing it in a Dobro fashion ever since. It has wonderful tone. Anyway, I've been wondering about capos and if a square neck capo would work or am I up the creek without a paddle...
Thanks,

Your best bet might be to find a steel rod or cut-off screwdriver that is approx same diameter as the height as riser nut, and slide it under the strings, butted up just behind the fret.

I recently picked up a Walworth and it's pretty good. It has a nice weight to it and it's small enough to fit within the smaller clearance you get with an acoustic with nut raiser. The only downside is you need to really fiddle with lining it up with the fret. Not a big deal when you're at home. I tried to use it live for my dobro but I spent half the song trying to line it up with the fret under minimal stage light. Also, Kelly Joe Phelps had a custom made one that seemed really good (easy to line up) but I'm not sure if they're commercially available.

A Sheerhorn Fluxcapo works great. It clamps the string. I had a Bead, which was a little cheaper, but I had problems getting a clean tone.
