Publications on steel history?

I am not sure if this is the proper section to post this question, but I will give it a shot. One of our local newspaper columnists has asked me for an interview in a couple of weeks and wants to discuss all aspects of the steel guitar, including (I presume) some history of the instrument. It seems to me that I have seen a reference or two over the years concerning a publication or two on this subject. If anyone knows of any such publication, please shoot me an e-mail asap and I will be very grateful. I just want to be sure I have my facts straight concerning names, dates, etc, etc.
Thanks in advance.

Has anybody ever written a book on the history of the steel guitar, including pedal steel?

Would a book similar to the book about Paul Bigsby have a market?

I'm a writer always looking for the next project. If this hasn't been done, it might be a good time while some of the founding fathers are still around.

Carl Dixon has a beautiful illustrated binder titled "
"The evolution of the Pedal Steel Guitar" if you can get in touch with him. I haven't seen a post from him in quite some time.
