What do you think of me 8+4 vs. 8+5?
LKV lowers the Bs. What are the pros and cons of this?
thanks for your time. |

I like it. It's good for all kinds of chords and melody stuff, both to get the C note (split with the A pedal) and on its own to get the Bb. It's the least used lever on my guitars and I could get by fine without it, but I'd miss it if I didn't have it.
It's definitely worth getting the vertical lever.
If you don't use the B to Bb lower, you can always change it to do something else. It's good to have an extra lever to experiment with, and then you don't have to interfere with the rest of your setup to try a new change. _________________ www.pedalsteel.ca |

I've got it on both of my guitars and hardly ever touch it. I've half pedal the A so I can't bring myself to ever use that split. Without having your toes on a pedal, it's a pain to use a vertical. The most useful thing I have on mine is I double lower the bottom B to an A instead of Bb which is a nice change for some rock stuff.
If it broke, I probably wouldn't know it until November. |

You could always raise 1 and 7 from F# to G, on the vertical. It's a very useful change, and it's really easy to use in combination with the A and B pedals. _________________ www.pedalsteel.ca |

I use my X lever in several ways.
Favorites include:
a "descending" minor vamp with A pedal, str 3,5,8
"open" with G#<F# lower + X, for a dom b7b5, str 5,6,9. I use both of these in "Misty", et al.
Most common is probably "pedals down" + X lev = minor
There's many more, using E,F levers + X (if you can reach, which I struggle to do.)
Have fun and experiment
