This is a '65 Princeton Reverb amp that has been highly modified, making it better in my opinion. I have used it in my studio a few times, but have never had it out of the house. It is very quiet as far as tube amps go, and great for studio work. I have used it with guitar as well as pedal steel and it sounds really good with both.
First, let me clarify that I am not an electronics techie, and don’t know much technically about tube amps, but I will describe the mods to the best of my ability. This amp sounds fantastic in my opinion, but amp sound is so subjective to individual taste, your opinion may vary. Since this amp is vintage, it is sold “as is”, but if there is a problem, I will definitely work with the buyer to solve it. I try my best to deal as fairly as I can with everyone.
- Cabinet has a few “road bumps” but nothing serious. There is one small hole in the grille cloth as visible in the pictures. The speaker baffle was broken when I got it, so I made a new one using birch, cabinet grade plywood and added the JBL speaker. It had tilt back legs on it that had been shortened, and they didn’t look too good so I took them off and sold them.
- The speaker is a 12” rather than the original 10”. This had been done before I got it, so I stayed with a 12” when I made the new baffle. It currently has an 8 ohm JBL K-120 that sounds great.
- The tubes are as follows: 1-5Y3, 2-Electro Harmonix 6V6EH, 2-12AX7EH preamp tubes, 2 unmarked preamp tubes. The reverb tank number is 4AB3C1B.
- The original power cable has been replaced with a grounded one, and the polarity switch is disabled. Shouldn’t need it with a grounded cable. The aux. AC outlet is also disabled.
- Includes a brand new cover.
- I don’t know who modified the circuit, but the wiring is neat and all of the solder joints look good, as shown in the pictures.
- Here’s what I do know about the circuit. A second channel was added with the controls on the back of the chassis. The front panel volume control has a pull switch that changes channels. A gain control was added to the original channel, and the overdrive it produces sounds good to me, although it seems to produce internal feedback when turned too high, which may be normal. The clean channel has the controls on the back, the “dirty” channel controls are on the front. A “Mid” control was also added to the front channel. The reverb works on both channels, and is very smooth and “Fendery” sounding. The tremolo has been eliminated.
- There is a small power transformer and rectifier circuit on the top of the chassis, but I suspect this may be only for the two small blue components, that I think are relays used to switch the channels.
- I will try my best to answer any other questions you may have.
I have shipped lots of amps and other heavy items and have had only a couple of minor damage claims. I use multiple layers of bubble wrap, and oversize, heavy boxes, and lots of peanuts. I tape heavy cardboard over the front and back of the amp for further protection, and pack the tubes separately and tape them in the back of the amp. I use Fedex Ground for shipping, I have had very good luck with Fedex shipping heavy items.
The price is $800.00, shipping included in the lower 48. I will take Paypal and I'll absorb the fee.
I have lots more pictures of the chassis and cabinet if anyone wants to see them.

MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, as well as some older MSAs, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Recently added a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored blue Rose, named the "Blue Bird" to the herd. Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic again that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also added a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks.

I believe this amp was probably mine at one time...I had it altered by John Bostwick in Birmingham AL...It was my main guitar amp for several years..
