I played music with a steel player in RI that had a steel with the tuning keys on the right end instead of the left the pickup was on the right too.This was in problely 57 or 58 does anyone what kind of steel it was. I can't remember his name but he was good. thanks Jim

Jim,
It's all in the timing! Yesterday, I got copies of catalogues from Michael Lee Allen. And there was a copy of the Gibson catalogue, with this guitar in it. I never would have had a clue without that. The mail came, I took a quick first look, and then got on the Forum. All within an hour. Timing,,,,,,,,,

You know, lots of folks talk about a new pedal steel guitar being an expensive instrument today, but if you compare the cost of several of the newer models manufactured today, to the ones listed in that catalog page above, then many pedal steels available today are a downright bargain!

Lem, you are so right. Those instruments were the equivelent of $4500 to $5000 today.

Jim you can see my MultiKord when you came over to the house, when you called the other day I clicked on return call on my cell and it erased the call, I do not have your new number call me back so we can get together, I will be home all day tomorrow.

That's about the amount I was guessing, Kevin, factoring in inflation, etc...

I was actually surprised to see they were so expensive back in the day.
