I bought my pedal steel second-hand from a guy who had built it from a kit a few decades back. I believe it is a MarketRite Mark II. It has three pedals and four knee levers. Only one knee lever is currently functioning, one is attached to rods but doesn't pull to a useable pitch (while moving in one direction, it lowers the pitch and then begins to raise it again). The other two are not connected to anything other than the body itself. Pictures below to illustrate. Is this the sort of thing one who knows nothing, but wants to learn, can do? If so, where does one get parts and/or instruction? If not, where might one find someone who can?

It looks to me like the 2 KL's that are not hooked up to anything would be of a "reversing" type. Normally there would be a short rod from the KL to an "Idler" crank also attached to the rear apron and another short rod from the "idler crank" to a bell crank on a cross shaft that would then have pull rods attached to bell cranks for the changes that are worked by that lever. I think that both are KL's that move to the right if I'm looking at your photos correctly and the "idler crank" is used to "reverse" the pulling motion away from the changer.
