Hi,
Would like to get a sense of who's available and willing, and see if it's a good match. I've gotten a couple of names already, just putting the word out for any others.
Thanks,
Brian

I think Joe Savage lives there.

I don't think Joe teaches, if he does I am going to be standing in line for a couple lessons. Bob Anderson from Ramsey used to teach, but he had a stroke 2 years ago so he may not. Don't know of anymore.

Hi Brian,
There are a few steel players around (including myself) but not sure if anyone is giving lessons at this time. I have in the past, but am currently very short on time to take on another project. It takes a real commitment to do it right. BTW, there are two others in town which have called asking for lessons but are currently on a waiting list of sorts. There appears to be a shortage of steel instructors and repair folks in the metro area according to those I have talked with.

You might try looking for John Ely. I heard he was in that area and is a top of the line steeler either pedal or non-pedal.

Thanks Erv
I wasn't sure which part of Minnesota John was in. Now I know.

John Ely is from Virginia, MN but left there around 1998. I don't know where he is now. The last I heard from Bob Anderson he was giving lessons to Jerry Dube Jr.

Last year at HSGA I was told he was in Minnesota, but musicians travel.

I just pulled up John's website.
It was last updated 7/3/10 and his address is shown as being from Virginia, MN.
