Not sure if this has been listed on ebay before, and I have no connection to this instrument, but thought it would be of interest to those in the know -

Link to auction on eBay.

All the best,

Julian

What do you think the chances are that this might have been Billy Robinson's Bigsby from back in his glorious days with Red Foley?

Any of you Nashville guys........can you ask BILLY?

It would be great to know.

Looks like its for real to me, if it was a hatchet job from a D8 OR T8, it wouldn't have that decal on the neck.
Its missing the tuning changer from the headstock, but its very clean.
The only thing that looks hinky to me is the color of the finish, but that could be the photo's.
That neck casting is a 48- 52 type it should be a 25'' scale.
If anyone is thinking of pulling the trigger I would definitely check that out.
The late Bob Guida, had a realy nice one of these.

I'd say it's real too, not a cut up job. I've seen three others like that, they all had the neck decal too. The case is clearly a Bigsby made and for this guitar. The seller claims it came from the original owner in Downey so it's unlikely it was Billy Robinson's.

I wonder how many other Bigsby's I missed when still living in and around Downey...? When leaving So. Cal at the age of 20 I only knew/loved steel guitar by seeing Bobby Black w/Commander Cody.
