Say you're playing "Diesel On My Tail" or "Six Days On The Road" and you want to do the Doppler effect sound of a semi passing by blowing it's horn... |

(On E9 pedal steel)I play the open D note on the 9th string and slide the bar on the 10th string from 2nd fret to 2 1/2 fret....ha.....never reaching the 3rd fret which is D.

What Ricky said except to keep the doppler effect sounding real you need to slide DOWN after sliding up while slowly backing off on the volume pedal at the same time.Make any sense?  _________________ http://www.myspace.com/davidagriffin |

Sorry; yes to explain further on my post. You hit those strings with volume off: then pump the volume in and out.

those are all good ones guys...i always did it with the 8th string on the 3rd fret, 6th string open, and b pedal down. of course, pump the pedal!
