Bruce Bouton's DVD is an excellent guide for the beginning steel guitarist.
I can highly recommend his from personal experience as a beginner.

Also Mickey Adams DVD is well worth it, and his YouTube videos are more than worth it, they're free!

Hi Mike, I'd like to have one of those DVD's also.
I'm finally going to have time to practice again.
If you still have my address & Email, their good.
Will Email or call you later, I want more videos.

Cody, Mikes DVD's some of the best you'll ever find.
Very well explained, and he shows you the right way.
Just listening to him play, is worth the low price
of his DVD's, and his only goal is to help others
learn to play what he's spent many years learning,
and not trying to make a fortune by helping others.

#1; Make sure you get one that teaches the correct 'hand techniche', ala blocking etc, lots of video's are 'chops and songs' and dont even cover the most important factor.

#2 Most of us at first are too impatient to learn all the correct stuff, so we start blazing away only to fall short later in life and have to re-learn all over, it's a mess that way!!

Just my opinion brother! Smile

Hey Mike my friend,
I got the ones you sent me Tuesday. On Wednesday some friends
came from upstate, and we played a lot of music, and she is
just learning to play steel (she is a super keyboard player)
I'm going to help her on steel, and I played some of your DVD's
for her, and told her they would be the best teaching for her,
and she agreed 100%. If she didn't order them yet she will soon.
Her last name is Childress. Her and her husband are super people.
My friend Larry in Mo. got his the other day, and loves them too.
Thanks for all the affordable help you are giving people like us.
Let me know when the next ones are available, so I can get them.
I know your just like me, and you really enjoy helping others.

Tommy White's E9 DVD is hard to beat. Beautifully recorded, with close up shots of his hands.

For a complete beginner (like me!) I found that the Rob Haines (Mel Bay) Anyone Can Play E9 Pedal Steel Guitar DVD. It details how to setup and break down a steel as well as tuning the strings, pedals and levers as well as basic technique.

The Bruce Bouton DVD is good, not as structured as the Rob Haines one but it gives an idea of what you can do after a few months practice.

I received Mike's beginner DVD today.

There's info on tuning, chords and use of the pedals as well as a walkthrough of a song.

Mike has great patience throughout the DVD, never rushing and always keeping the lesson (and the song), moving along at just the right pace.

I'll be working on this DVD for a while. Mr. Green

I have 3 of Mike Archers DVD's. Just got them, but I
know they are going to be very helpful, and you don't have to pay an arm and leg. Mike is a great guy. Give him a try. Larry Baker

thanks Larry!! thanks Mark!!

buying instruction is very expensive
I know ive paid big bucks for tabs/vhs tapes/dvds
and this and that and the other over the years
all I can say is try to get your moneys worth
when you buy these teaching aides
there are many fine teachers right here on the forum who sell good instruction for a very modest
price.....if I can help some one thats great
if somebody else can give you the help
and you learn better thats great too
but practice and dont get in a hurry is my advise
cause it isnt going to happen over night
but keep working it will begin to fall in place
have fun Mike Very Happy
