New lap steel video- I want to go back

Post by Jerry Gleason »

To my little grass shack…

No, really… Now, I know some people think this is a cheesy old Hapa Haole song, but it's actually a really good tune with fun changes. I made this video to show my new "Harbor Lights" lap steel.

I originally set out to make it sound more Hawaiian, but as I was building it, it morphed into more of a swing tune, almost a shuffle. I posted this on YouTube, but the sound quality was so poor, I removed it. If I can resolve that issue, I'll have it up there again.

in my opinion, doing this as a video adds little to the enjoyment of the music. The point was to show the guitar in action. Personally, I'd rather close my eyes and focus on the music.

Hi Jerry,

I like your recording of "My Little Grass Shack". Your "Harbor Lights" guitar sounds great.
I assume you have the dual pickups. If so, are they blended together?

Hi, Roger,
Yes, the bridge pickup is always on, and the neck pickup is blended in about 75% in that video.
