Bob...Excel guitars are manufactured in Japan. There are a few owners on the Forum and they can best offer their insights on playability and tone. The only distrubutor of these guitars that I am aware of is Scotty's Music in St. Louis.

Hi Bob,
What David said is exactly right.
Previously they were sold by Bob Waits of Cheney, WA.
and I was his rep and sold a few here in the Puget Sound region. Bob got out of it and Scotty's is the place. They made me a U-12 in 1980 which I played 5/6 nights a week for the next 15 years and never had a problem, great instrument. Mechanically very well designed. Mine had a 5 raise/3 lower changer. Worked perfectly on my E9/B6. The builder is Mitsuo Fuji, in Japan, he calls them "Fuzzy" steel guitars.
You can find them in the "Manufacturers" link above.
