Ha! Those muted 'bass' notes were killer too!

Thats what I call "Jammin". Usually what you end up playing just comes to you as you're playing. If you jammed the same song again, it would not exactly be the same depending on what mood you or the other players might be in ! Kayton was really playing great and enjoying it.

I think he is the most enthusiastic, emotional and amazing player of any instrument I have ever seen! of course its just an opinion. I noticed that he was using both necks. Any one know what tunings?

I just found some nice footage on You Tube of Kayton playing behind Hank Snow on "My Little Old Home Way Down In New Orleans". Such a sweet tone...

How could I have NOT known about this man????? Wow. I LOVE the low A bass string and the way he walks the bass line with it. I'm seriously thinking of trying to find a Fender D8 Deluxe now.

I really miss my National console now. That reminds me of my old buddy and mentor Garland Nash.

Kayton Roberts played a gig in Kingston, NY with Hank Snow in the 1990's and blew away all the pedal steel players with his bag of tricks. We would all do well to learn some of his stuff and incorporate it into our pedal styles.
