I think it's OK to experiment with these etudes and use them for exercises. I arranged this one for practicing blocking techniques, and playing on the low strings. It's a lot of fun to play. Hope you enjoy it. Any comments or criticisms would be welcome.

What a great idea...well done Steve! IMO, there's nothing better than playing music that's not meant for your instrument, to get fresh ideas, as well as building technique. I've spent countless hours working from the Charlie Parker Omnibook to help me see different shapes in my harmonically limited open E tuning.
Keep it up brother.

| Thanks guys! I'll never reach your level as a musician, but I have a lot of fun trying. Sor's music is very good to learn on. The etude that "Swing de Sor" is based on, Fred, is one that focuses on thumb picking technique, and has a good melody, so that's another one I was thinking of trying when I get my new 8-string Dynalap put together. Thanks for the link - my favorite cut was "I Ni Fama" - sounds lake a raga. Steve, I've been putting off watching your videos, because I wanted to see what tricks of my own I could come up with first. Now that I know you're using open E tuning I'll have to start studying them. |
