I have asked several times for a specific tab (I thought would be easy for the experienced) to provide, but no cigar. I am truly Sorry if any of my post offended anyone. I certainly didn't mean to.

I doubt anyone was offended. I think nobody has the time or inclination to write out tablature for that particular song (for free).

Thanks Brad....no harm in wanting to make a buck. I understsnd it tskes time, which is scarce these days.

thanks for your kind words, can you read music? the reason I ask is I have lots of lap steel books here but its all music notation and not tab. might have the song youre looking for. I could look if you can read music Joe

No need to apologies...as I said "No harm done". The words in parenthesis (For Free) zero out "Time or Inclination" which no Smiley can justify. Case closed.

Thank you so-o much for the box of steel tabs a sheet music. They are unique and quite old which shows the evolution of the Hawaiian guitar through the years. I probably can transcribe the notation ones to C6 Lap tabs. You are very generous and thoughtful. God Bless!

I've done a significant amount of tablature writing here, so I'd like to offer a view from the other side.
I'm not convinced that it's all about the money. In fact, I find that thought somewhere between silly and insulting. There are countless examples here of people who gave their time to tab something at someone's request.
There are lots of other factors. The amount of time I've put into it has dropped dramatically for many reasons. My personal pet peeve and a good part of the reason I don't bother anymore: For some bizarre reason, some people make requests which others take seriously - they put a significant amount of time into writing something out, just out of kindness, and the original requester doesn't even have the courtesy to acknowledge it or respond.
After a hiatus from tab writing, I recently talked myself into answering a request on here. I see it's now dropped off page 1 into oblivion, without so much as an acknowledgement from the person who requested it. Surprise surprise.
I'm glad I only put the time into writing a portion of it. I decided to wait to see if the person gave a darn before posting the rest, as it's time consuming. I wouldn't have taken this approach if it hadn't happened to me time and time again... and I was right.

On the other side of the coin, with regard to the "it's all about the money" thing: I was recently approached via e-mail by someone who actually requested that I tab out his video interpretations of classic intros and solos (i.e. other people's work) so that he could sell them.
Everyone's entitled to their opinions, but I thought that took more nerve than an aching tooth.
I managed a polite response, even though I really felt like telling him to go climb a friggin' tree.

And the other factor is communication. In this thread we have a dissected and extended conversation about writing a particular tab, yet after a dozen posts, it's still impossible to tell what someone wants tabbed. Nobody's going to wade through forum sections looking for some unnamed request post... and it's hard to get enthusiastic about helping someone when they insist on being so cryptic that they won't name the title.

So, the "it's all about the money" idea is, in my view, completely wrong.

Let's see if anybody has an "Amen" for that.

In your past posts I think you said you were doing great with C6th tab and retaining all you know. I'd like to suggest that you might be ready to start figuring out these tunes on your own without the benefit of tab. There is nothing more educational and satisfying than working and creating your own arrangement of a tune and trying to figure out the melody and harmony of a tune is wonderful ear training practice.

Best way to develop your own voice, even at the age of 68.

Thank you...I agree and have since started doing just that. By playing tabs, I began hearing different sounds from chord transitions and slants. It took a while for my "one" ear (deaf in left ear) to zero in any then apply. I am beginning to work out some fill in and comping and making some progross abeit slowly. I don't think I'll be a bother anymore. Thanks again.

At the Request of the authur I'm closing this.
But John I totally Agree with you on every account.
On Any forum; communication is the KEY...and many folks do not communicate properly.
I too have written hundreds and hundreds of tabs in my time; for FREEEEEEEEE and glad to do it....probably a dozen or so said thank you.
