I have a line on a used one of these for a good price, but there has been some sort of damage to the truss rod. Apparently the action is as good as it gets, and this is pretty high once you get past the first 5 frets. Still playable in the first position for all open chords. It's a really good price compared to a new one, but I don't want to take the plunge if all I'm buying is a boat anchor.

My questions are:

Are these bolt ons... thus making a neck replacement rather easy?

How much would a new neck cost?

If the truss rod is totally loosened off and the action is still too high, is this at all repairable?

I would think that National Resophonic Guitars would be better able to answer these questions, but perhaps someone will come up with a suggestion. If you're looking to play it lap style, it should work fine no matter what shape the truss rod is in. Get an adapter nut and you'll be in business!
