We all love the ukulele. But at times we crave long rich sustained notes that even a bartione uke can't deliver. In our quest for musical sustanance we've all tried the accordion, but the bellows kept pinching the sensitive parts of our body - ouch!
What to do?
Learn the lap steel!... the "Ultimate Chick Magnet!" (and Dude magnet as well, I suppose, but to a much lesser extent).
In addition to beginning C6 Lap Steel I'll also be teaching Swing Uke at the following week-long music camps this summer:
Ashokan Western & Swing Week - Olivebrige, New York - lap steel only - (finally... I'm playing the Catskills). June 27 - July 3 - thanks to my long time friend Dave Giegerich for recommending me.
Augusta Heritage Swing Week - Elkins, West Virginia - steel and swing uke (My fourth year back) August 1 - 6
Puget Sound Guitar Workshop - Bremerton, Washington - steel and swing uke. August 14-20
It's fun. It's easy. Did I mention Chick Magnet? _________________ Gerald Ross

I don't see your schedule listed. What will you be teaching (Western Swing I presume) and what tuning will you be using? |

Hey Gerald,
I think I might be able to attend this. My girlfriend has a house a few minutes away from Ashokan. Might be fun. |

I'm not listed on the Ashokan webpage yet. The gig was confirmed just yesterday.
I'll be teaching C6 tuning C E G A C E (six string). I teach tunes such as Sleepwalk, Steel Guitar Rag, Steelin Home, and "improv on the fly".
It's important that the students bring the smallest possible battery powered amp - with headphones. _________________ Gerald Ross
