MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, a restored MSA Classic SS, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro. |

Guy,
I followed the chart along as fast as I could and it seems you've got it.
This is a great tune and has more changes than a bossa nova.
I hope you can post your recorded results. |

It's not really for a recording, Charlie. One of my student ensembles have been wanting to perform the tune and needed a bit of help with a chart. Boy, it's a beautiful song. So delicate. I think they are going to have a job to get it together but nothing ventured, nothing gained. |

Great post, Charlie;
Awhile back NPR had an article about Esperanza Spalding on their "All Things Considered" program. Here's a link to it (Note: click on the 'player' to hear the article):
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=90478162
Coincidentally, earlier tonight, the Documentary Channel broadcast "Icons Among Us: Jazz in the Present Tense" which was an essay on the changing face of jazz and many of the new artists performing that genre. Among these was Esperanza at the Newport Jazz Festival. I believe this particular show will be rebroadcast in a few hours (for you night owls).
Clearly, good music does thrive beyond and without the need for "American Idol" and "Britain's Got Talent" (if you know what I mean).
Keep on pickin'!

Esperanza was kind of a Boston secret for a while but now she's clearly branched out ot an international reputation. She's a unique talent. |

Nothing to correct-very nice work on the transcription. Nice to see oldschool non-computer manuscript, too. |

Esperanza Spalding is coming to perform in Austin on April 23, 2010. She'll be at the recently renovated Performing Arts Center at the University of Texas. For anyone's interest, here's the complete schedule for Sept 2009 through Aug 2010:

Some more reasons to visit Austin during the next year!
