OK, total newbie here, where do you get a tuning wrench for the hex head dealy-bops at the a$$ end of my guitar, the thing-a-ma-dads that adjust how much the pedals raise the string pitch? Whew, that was quite a sentence...or maybe it wasn't. Anyway, does anyone know where you can get one? Thanks, Will

I have a suggestion

Go to a hardware store and get one of those wrenches with a handle. I don't know the size offhand but take one of the nylon screw on thingies with you so you find one that fits.

A 3/16" nut driver works fine, but one of the short handled ones works better.

Try Steel Guitar Nashville

Thanks guys, I've been contacted by Larry Petree who has a shop nearby in Buckersfield, he's sending me a wrench for my new baby. I appreciate the posts and advice. I'm sure this isn't the last you'll hear from me, I'll be needing a lot of help with this new instrument/challenge, but thanks! Will

Hi Will
Carl Williams makes the Big Grab and Tune tool and it is the best I ever used. You can contact him at "carlwilliams2@att.net". I have 3 of them. His recent post is found in "Electrical and misc for sale" here on the forum. Makes tuning the hex nuts much easier and very precise.
Enjoy the forum and great to have you. Jack

Sometime ago somebody asked for a "tuning wench"...

I still laugh at that one.

...the problem with a tuning wench...is that she's always yelling over your shoulder: "It's flat, tune it up, up, up!!!" or..."You moron, the E string's sharp!!!"...had a tuning wench once, got rid of her!

If you want really big tuning wrenches, Carl Williams' wrenches are the only way to go. I bought two of 'em.

Did I say "big"? When they arrived they were so big they had to take the roof of my flat and use a crane to lower them in, right next to my steel!
