Although Peavey has always been a reliable and adequate amp, they don't have the "warmth" I prefer. I'm interested in trying an Evans. Does anyone care to offer an opinion about an Evans or any other S.S. amp having a greater warm or tube sound. Thanks. |

If you want a tube sound, go with a tube amp. |

Get with Ken Fox about changing the op-amps in the 112. Reports say it warms the tone considerably, and is cost effective vs. buying a new amp. |

I run a Sarno Black Box between my steel and my Evans Fet 500. I may have been happy with the sound of the Evans alone, but not with the Eclipse speaker that was in it. I just put a BW 1501 in it which warmed it up a bunch. With the Black Box and the new speaker it sounds great. Just one tube in the chain works wonders. I've never owned a Peavey, so can't give you an opinion on the difference between it and the Evans. |

I've played through a stock Nashville 112, the same Nash. 112 after the Fox mod chips, which did indeed warm it up a bunch.
Also played through an Evans SE 200 quite a bit.
After all of that, I agree with Erv. If you want a true tube amp sound, get a tube amp.
Best of luck. _________________ David Collins

My Evans SE200 Hybrid has a lot of warmth if you set it that way. "Hybrid" means it has a tube preamp. |
