Nashville flood update, May 6:
Thank you for the many emails and phone calls asking about the status of Gruhn Guitars. We were very fortunate to have come through the flood with no damage whatsoever. The Cumberland River came up Broadway as far as Second Avenue, two blocks east of the store, and it also flooded an area a half-block south of the store. Many downtown businesses have no power, but our power and phones are still on and we remain open for business.
After closing Monday I spent over an hour walking around the neighborhood and going over the Woodland Street bridge to observe the flooding. I've never seen anything this bad before. The underground parking where our employees park is totally flooded. The basement of the Symphony Hall is underwater, and they lost two Steinway concert grand pianos, among other instruments. The floor of the arena where the Nashville Predators hockey team plays is under 2 feet of water and the dressing rooms are below that level so they are completely flooded. The field at the Titans' stadium is underwater, as are all the dressing rooms. The Sound Check storage facility used by Vince Gill, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley and numerous others is flooded to the roof and hundreds of instruments have been destroyed. The Gibson factory is flooded.
We are shaken by the experience and profoundly saddened by the loss suffered by so many people, as well as the loss of so many fine musical instruments, many of which are irreplaceable.

Wow. What a wild Spring. We've had some of the worst flooding here in New England in 100 years yet Nashville's seems far worse.
