Lap steel guitar stands by Mark Roeder - Wow!

In Dallas last month I got a chance to meet Mark Roeder and his wife Kristy. Mark was displaying his new steel guitar stands and also singing and playing with Kristy.

I was very impressed with his stands (and the singing and playing).

I ordered one and it arrived last Wednesday.

It's fantastic. It is sturdy, lightweight, good looking and it all fits into a compact carrying case!

It fits both my Fender Champion and Bakelite Rickenbackers like a charm. The stand holds the guitar at the proper angle and the non-slip material on the arms is truly non-slip.

I'll use it on my gig this Saturday.

Get one of these stands.

Gerald, I concur. I used mine on Sunday at a brunch and it is awesome. This is the first actual stand that I've ever enjoyed using. I had a few of the old style stands, but with this stand it feels like part of the guitar.

Mark has since updated his design to a very cool look, but I like this one just the same. You have a choice of using 3 legs or 4.

Mike,

Your Cliensmith comes with legs, no?

What does the stand give you that just putting it on the legs does not?

My Clinesmith doesn't have leg sockets. This is the best stand out there, especially for this guitar. Mark asked for measurements before it was made and it fits perfectly, although my Maricopa fits nicely, too.

Thanks for all your positive coments. It is a pleasure to make something that really serves a need out there. It started as something just for my own steel.

Here is a retro ad I patched out of old graphics.

Here is the newest version that Mike had mentioned.

It has the guitar at a ten degree angle, which I like for myself. I've made a few this way for other players that like their guitar tipped. People in the audience have commented that they like seeing what I am playing on the angled stand.

I'm taking mine to Europe on Weds for a couple weeks of gigs with Wayne Hancock. Mark's stands are better than the having the legs built in. Well worth it.

That's a well-designed stand and I'll be interested in ordering one, too. Right now, I have a National and a Fender with good felt and they don't slip, lap-style. But I've got a really slippery no-felt walnut Tremblay. I was thinking of going Velcro--couple of patches on the guitar and a couple of patches on my jeans. (Just kidding and somebody already thought of it, I'm sure.) Appreciate good design and that stand is a winner. Time to get up on two feet and play standing.

How stable are they if you set it up with the legs extended to play in a standing position?

Andy, That's what I do and it is solid as a rock.

I also recently received a stand from Mark.....I gave him the measurements of my widest neck and widest lower bout.....so this one stand fits all of my lap steels....and I have "a few"......I'll shoot some photos when I get back to NY this week.....

So you'll be playing in Hamburg on Friday the 16th of April? See ya!

Hi Mark!

Would your stand work with Weissenborn acoustic lap steels to, and if so, I take it (from reading Howard's post above) that the stand could be adjusted to fit much more narrow electric lap steels too?

Cheers,

Fred

I can make one for acoustic instruments. I have made a dodro stand that worked out well. Unfortunatly I forgot to take photos. The challenge would be to make one that works for both acoustic and electric. I am thinking on that one. It is easier with lap steels because the plain that the body and neck are on is closer.

The question was asked,
What does the stand give you that just putting it on the legs does not?
Less calluses on your legs. ;-)

Aloha, :)
