I have been thinking about doing a BIAB instructional video. I get many request from people wanting to know the basics of how to create backing tracks. It's not difficult. I've shown a lot of people how to do it. Making the video will take time and I'll have to purchase some software in order to make this video. It won't be free, but it will be guaranteed to produce results or your money back. The video will not only teach you how to make backing tracks, it will also address what you need to get good sounding tracks and how to set it up. Please let me know if this something that would be of interest to you. The more interest I have, the more inclined I'll be to make the video.

I'm interested Rick, I can tag a song, but can't do a good ending. What edition would you be aiming at? Mine is 2007. Would I have to purchase a newer version? A lot of people have asked me about doing more single type of jobs, and I might, if I can prove to myself it sounds good. I used to go to the senior centers and play dinner music while they ate, and then they would dance to my music. Larry

It would be generic. There's really only two main differences in BIAB versions. The newer versions contain "real tracks" which are actual recordings of various instruments. They sound good, but there is a limited selection of styles that can take advantage of this. So, using the midi instruments is the meat and potatoes of BIAB. If I do this, it will be useful for any version. The endings, stops, spilit bars, etc... are not that difficult to do if you know how to do them. However, what I can teach you is not anything that you can't learn on your own, if you want to take the time to study the manuals and research the BIAB website, as I hav e done. I can teach you to do an ending in five minutes that took me hours to figure out the hard way.

Newer versions of BIAB always have new features, but most of them are not anything serious. Having the newest version will not be a daylight and dark difference. 2007 is just fine.

Finding the time to do a project like this is the difficult part. Earning a living often gets in the way of my music hobby.

I'm interested too, Rick. The learning curve on BIAB is pretty steep, and I'm having a hard time trying to find the time to learn to play the PSG, so a shortcut on BIAB would be very helpful.

I've found that the MAC version of BIAB significantly different than the PC version. I've upgraded to the latest MAC version and not sure how it compares (interface and features) with the newest PC version. In your video, do you know if it would not be applicable to the Mac users? I'd be interested in a indepth tutorial.

I use Mac BIAB in my studio because I use Mac for my recording DAW, but I'm doing the BIAB DVD on Windows. There's more Windows PC users out there than Mac users. I actually don't find much significant differences in PC and Mac versions of BIAB. I go back and forth all the time. The videos will be useful for either format.

I hope to have the first DVD finished soon. I'll make an announcement here.

Actually since I upgraded to the latest 2010 version, there seems to be less, if any, difference between the PC and mac versions.

Thanks for taking the time to make a video on this Rick. I will certainly want to purchase one. I enjoy making tracks to play along with but I don't seem to have time anymore to try and decifer all the instructional material that's frustrating to me. I think listening to you explain things from a video is the way to go for me. I will keep an eye on this thread to check your progress and sure do appreciate your help.

Sign me up! I'm pretty good with computers but this thing has me stymied. I agree that (though I want to create backing tracks) I'd rather spend the time learning psg than devoting hours deciphering BIAB. I certainly have respect for those who have done so but I'm willing to pay for a quick fix.

rick, I admire you for wanting to do this, however if a dumb old man like me can understand the tutorials, anyone can. If further help is needed email or telephone will get your answer in minutes and in plain talk, not computorize. If you should go ahead with your project I wish you success. cc
