Oracle, the new owner of Sun Corp, has just released a security update to the Java Virtual Machine Runtime Environment. The new version is version 6 Update 20. Since this fixes a critical vulnerability that is being exploited in the wild, you should update yours now. Go to www.java.com/en/ to download the version tailored for your browser. Or, go to the Java Download page and choose an online or offline installation file for any supported operating system and all of its browsers.
The new version should uninstall the previous version, but may not remove much older versions. In that case you should use Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs to uninstall all previous version of Java, leaving only the most recent installation.
If for some reason the Java updater thinks you have the latest version, but the Java website says not so, uninstall all Java machines first, then reboot, then go to Java.com and install the current version. _________________ "Wiz" Feinberg, Moderator SGF Computers Forum
