I was reading the liner notes to "Steel Guitar Jazz & Four Wheel Drive" (from Steel Guitar Record Club) and Buddy mentioned having played on a recording session for a Ray Charles LP titled "Volcanic Action of My Soul" Has anyone heard it?

From 1971. Lots of slick arrangements with strings, etc. Check it out here:

some of that album is available on the box set "complete country and western recordings" which i found at the library Very Happy
Listening now...Buddy is great as always especially on Witchita Lineman. I could do without the glossy string section tho.

Emmons is all over that record. Great E9 "Blade" tone and playing (of course) on most songs and a terrific C6 solo on "Feel So Bad". Carol Kaye on her period funky boogaloo bass and I believe Glen Campbell was on guitar. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

I'm with you Ben, think I better dig up a copy of that one. My old Technics turntable still works just fine. Smile
