What about Peterson with Universal tuning?

I should say how much I rely on the Peterson for my six string - hands down, best tuner in the world.

But what about using it for Universal? Should you use the E9 preset for pedals up, and the C6 for the E's lowered? (Haven't tried this one yet). I tried using Jeff Newman's ideas, even though my setup is different - not very successful... I can see how tuning it by ear makes sense, but at a gig, it's not as useful as using a good tuner, for me.

Any ideas would be helpful
