At Hank's Saloon, 10 p.m.

I took a lesson from Russ Wever and will be demonstrating his licks free (those that I can execute, at least).

I'd go also if I weren't here in New Orleans.

Looks like Hank's is the springboard for NY steelers.

Jonathan---good to meet you, GREAT to hear you. You sounded excellent. I dug the band--good picking, cool blend of influences.

Howard--I challenge you to name a place in NY with better music, better steel players.

b0b--please close this thread before Howard can respond.

I'd love to hear your report from N.O.

Thanks for the nice words, Jon. Compliments from fellow steelers always carry a bit more weight (about 9 oz.), and coming out on a rainy night counts double.
I appreciate the support and look forward to returning the favor sometime soon -- lurking close by the bandstand and staring right at you...

mega-apologies, JG, for planting myself there and eagle-eying you like that! Didn't occur to me 'til later that it was rude&crude. As you can see, I can't exactly see over many people's heads so I tend to either hide in the back or mosh right in front of the stand. Turns out you bassist hid you from my scrutiny most of the set anyway. (Also looked like he nearly took your head off several times too--fortunately it's a mandolin who stands in front of me so not much danger when he swings his neck around like a scythe clearing a grassy field---hey wow, those creative writing classes are already paying off!).

Just razzing ya. I'm flattered that someone would even want to watch what I'm doing.
Btw, I'm playing a short set at Galapagos in Brooklyn on Tuesday around 8 pm. It's a weird little combo called Church of Betty that draws a lot on Indian music. It ain't "Night Life," but it's pretty cool.
