The newest Honky Tonk Band in Austin will be playing at the Carousel Lounge Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 for what we call the "Jive After Five" Happy Hour.

The Skyliners are a Dance Band that plays everything from Eddie Cochran to Darrell McCall. On steel, we've got Gary Newcomb one of the bright spots in the future of Country Music playing his Sierra 12-string Universal, one beautiful instrument!

Hey Shaan, who else is playing in that band? Carousel has a special place in my heart, it was the first bar in the US I ever went to

Hey Jussi (aka Lester Peabody right?)

As with most bands in Austin the lineup can change from show to show. Other than myself and Gary we have a rhythm section of Greg Smith and Anthony Clubb. Next month we'll have Glenn Suchan from Kevin Fowler's band sitting in on steel since Gary will be on a European tour with a singer-songwriter named Richard Buckner.

I know, not the usual names you expect to see in an Austin honky tonk band but they are good players who like playing with a novice singer/frontman like me.

You'd appreciate some of the instrumentals we do such as The Rockin' Gypsy, Hurricane, James Burton's Your Cheatin' Heart and Corn Pickin', Buckaroo, and Buck's Polka. I also plan on doing some Jimmie Rivers and the Cherokees tunes off that Brisbane Bop album, I just need to woodshed for a while on them.

Shaan, that sounds like an interesting night, wish I could catch that. You're right, I would appreciate to hear you play all those tunes. I don't get to hear them live too often here in my neck of the woods. Hope you'll have a good show!!!
