I had an "Ah-ha!moment tonight.
I've been learning E9th Pedal steel for the last three months, and so haven't played any lap steel in awhile. I felt like messing around with a little lap steel today, so I took out my c6th tuned one and played a bit, then I got out my eight string Morrell that I keep tuned "Don Helms" style e13...as I started tuning up it hit me:

E13:
B D E G# B C# E G# low to hi

is darn near:

E9 PEDAL:
B D E F♯ G♯ B E G♯ D♯ F♯ low to hi!

DUH! It never occurred to me to make the connection.
I skip F# and use the A pedal to raise my B's to C# when I need it, and that's e 13! The same tuning I use for a lot of lap stuff.
Anyway..thought I'd share a newbie "Ah-Ha!" with you all..
