We're really pleased to announce that Hal Rugg has agreed to play for the 2nd Columbia Jazz Steel Concert in Columbia, MO this April 13, at Murry's Restaurant, at 2:00 pm Sunday afternoon. He will be backed by the Tom Andes Trio.

If you were at the Columbia show last year, you know that Doug Jernigan gave a terrific, very personal show with the Tom Andes Trio at Murry's. You may also have seen the Tom Andes Trio back Doug at the ISGC in St. Louis this past fall on Sunday afternoon.

Hal will play two full sets with the Andes Trio. He is working on a new jazz CD as we speak, but is not sure if it will be available by the time of the show. But you can bet Hal and the band will be in top form!

Advance tickets are $10 or $12 at the door. For more info, click on the banner to the website above, or contact:
Dan Hatfield at dannygboone@aol.com

or Dirk Burhans at: burhansd@missouri.edu

I'd love to but it's a wee bit far away from Pennsylvania for me! Well... maybe if I offer a low-ball price on Priceline for airfare...

My in-laws live in Columbia and I eat at Murry's frequently when I'm in Missouri. Wow, I may have to make it up to Columbia to see Hal on this one.

Hey Dan, you ever run into my sister-in-law Lisa?

This ought to be a great show. I saw Doug last year and it was excellent. There isn't a bad seat in the place. I'm looking forward to it.

More good news. Scotty and Mike and the gang from Scotty's are coming down to tape it for a SteelRadio.com broadcast.

Mike says: "The Scott's And SteelRadio.com Are Coming" and we are going to "Raise a Little Heck" (edited for family-oriented content).

I would be there if I didn't have two shows of my own that day.
Please give my friend Hal all my best. I know it will be a great show.
Come on down to Branson if you don't get enough steeling in Columbia, a lot of shows are already open, with more opening every week.
Bring Hal with ya, LOL.

God Bless,
Michael T

I truly enjoyed this show. Hal did a superb job of showing the steel guitars' flexibility in the jazz venue. The setting at Murry's is excellent because it is a small, intimate place with no bad seats. The Tom Andes Trio did a great job backing up Hal, even on music they weren't familiar with. For those who have never experienced great "jazz" steel pick up one of Hal's cd's or the video he did with Buddy Emmons at the Bell Cove. You won't be sorry!

I agree the jazz show in Columbia last Sunday was very enjoyable. Brad was able to get an excellent recording. I’m not exactly sure as to when this show will be ready to air on SteelRadio.com. The editing will may a little time. I will keep you all updated.

I also have several shows “In The Can”. (about 12 to be exact) Everything from vintage Curly Chalker to the Steel Guitar Convention in Japan. We have a lot of good music to look forward to.

Unfortunately, we are still experiencing technical difficulties. The buffering and drop outs are very frustrating. We are working on the problem and hope to have it solved VERY quickly.

Thanks,
Michael Scott
