In later years did MSA do away with the changer supports? What makers still use them ?

I don't think my Dekley has them and I don't remember but some one told me , they are not a lot of help and really not needed.

Changer Diam. is 1/2 . Does it need them ? Is the axle going to flex too much without them ? I have the ones out of it but will have to do a little work to get them back on it . I am going to have to open the changer hole a bit also since this was a 10 string originally.

Why are you widening the slot? Are you converting it to a 12 string?
If so, a 1/2" diameter axle would be an absolute minimum, and you will still get some flex on the middle strings (only a couple of thou, but enough for you to hear a plain sixth dropping)

Try to get some high tensile 1/2" rod, it will withstand flexing a lot better than mild steel

Yes it is a 10 string body and I am going to a 12 string. I have all the factory 12 string changer and parts from a MSA . I am going longer on the scale so I guess I will put them back in . I had not thought of the extra tension from the longer scale.
